COUNTERBALANCE TRAINING

Professional Counterbalance Training and
Certification

The Counterbalance Forklift is also known as the Tow-Motor or Sit-Down Counterbalance. This forklift is widely used in the loading and offloading of freight to and from transport trucks in all warehouse environments. It can also used for the movement of goods within a facility.

A stand up version also exists which is essentially the same type of machine, only that the operator compartment is designed to be used while standing, this is called the Dockstocker or Standup Counterbalance.

Counterbalance Forklifts come in a variety of makes, designs and sizes. You can find machines that have been designed for use indoors as well as outdoors for use in rough terrain environments. The fuel types can also vary from propane powered machines to diesel and electrically powered.

Forklift Training Brampton

Although the fuel sources may vary, the actual lifting mechanism are standard on all machines, they all depend on hydraulics for their lifting and functions. The basics are standard on all trucks although the controls placement and overall "feel" of the machines might differ. If you learn how to operate one, with a bit of practice, you will be able to adapt to the others.

Certification Goals and Expectations

Having a counterbalance forklift certificate will expand your hiring potential and put you ahead of the crowd in the eyes of an employer. After taking our counterbalance certification course, the operator will have gained:

  • The necessary theory and practical skills to the safely and properly use of the counterbalance
  • The importance of doing the pre-operational safety checks
  • Respect for the machine by using it correctly, the way it was designed to be used.

REACH TRUCK TRAINING

Professional Reach Truck Training and Certification

The Raymond Reach, named after the Raymond Corporation back in the 1920's, is another common forklift truck that we see in every warehouse. The Reach Truck belongs to a family of machines known as narrow-aisle machines.

This machine revolutionized the way companies could manage their warehouse space and racking system. Prior to the birth of this versatile forklift, companies were limited to the maneuvering and lifting height capacities of the sit down counterbalance. The spacing between racking systems was very wide and not too high. The reach truck has the capabilities of turning in half the space and lifting up to twice the height of the counterbalance and it also has the ability of extending or retracting its forks.

Certification Goals and Expectations

In the hands of a properly trained and experienced reach truck operator, this machine could be essential in the process put-away and recovering freight to and from racking locations. Once the counterbalance has done its job offloading product onto the dock, it's usually the reach truck that will take over and complete the process into storage locations. These trucks are electrically powered and rely on hydraulics for the lifting and functions. Once the basics are learned, an operator can pick-up and adapt to any other type of reach machine.

Just like on any other machine, an operator will learn to:

  • Be respectful and aware of the proper operating procedures prior to operating one of these machines.
  • Understand these safety concepts by providing you with the required theory followed by detailed hands on training.
  • Be safe and avoid bad habits, something that many "experienced operators" have and we strongly discourage.

The focus must be on being a safe and efficient reach truck operator, with everyone's safety in mind. This will help to create a great working environment for all.

We strongly recommend operators who get a reach truck certificate to also get counterbalance certification. This will help increase their hiring potential, as it is appealing to employers.

ORDERPICKER TRAINING

Professional Orderpicker Training and Certification

The Orderpicker, also known as the cherrypicker is part of the narrow aisle family of trucks. This truck is designed to elevate the operator to and from racking locations. This capability has resulted in better use of racking and warehouse space usage. Most distribution facilities would traditionally have the products to be picked at floor level, where workers would fill the orders riding on a walkie. Although some facilities may still use this method, filling orders with an orderpicker allows the facility to run more efficiently and eliminates the constant replenishing required by another operator on a reach truck, therefore saving time.

Even though this machine is relatively simple to use and does not have as many functions as other forklifts, it does not mean that it is immune to accidents. Due to the fact that the operator is lifted to great heights, a safety harness must be worn by the operator at all times. This makes the orderpicker equally or even more dangerous.

Pallet Truck (Walkie)

Walkie Training and Certification

We offer walkie training and certification in Brampton and the GTA

According to MOL regulations It is the legal requirement of every employer to have its Employees properly trained and certified before allowing them to operate an electric Walkie (Pallet Truck).
In Canada and the USA every year there are many senseless accidents due to improper training, operators taking shortcuts or just not following safe work practices (OSHA Safety Board). Effective Walkie Training is essential for minimizing accidents, injuries and deaths. If we all do our part, we can make every workplace a safer place for all.

Also known as the pallet truck and electric hand truck the walkie is highly used in the ground level order picking process. It is a small yet versatile and quick for loading, offloading and moving freight in a around a facility. They vary from small walk only versions to double length ride-on ones, complete with a type of booster for extra speed.

Forklift License Ontario

The basics are standard on all walkie trucks although the controls placement and overall "feel" of the machines might seem different, if you learn how to operate one, with a little bit of familiarizing you will be able to adapt to any electric pallet truck.
Although small, the walkie must not be underestimated when it comes to the dangers associated to its misuse. Operators must be properly trained on exactly how dangerous this small machine could be. Some of the considerations that must be taken into account are that, the operator is exposed. Unlike other forklifts that have a protective operator's compartment, most electric walkies do not. This means that the walkie operator must always be aware and on the look out to avoid being injured.
Walkies come in a variety of models, designs and makes. Some of the most common are Raymond, Yale, Clark and Crown. Just as the name implies "Electric power truck" these machines are electrically powered. After taking our walkie certification course the operator would have been trained on the proper use and care and the machine as well as battery maintenance.

Aerial Work Platforms

Aerial Work Platform Machines

We offer Scissorlift / Aerial Work Platform Training in Brampton and the GTA

According to MOL regulations It is the legal requirement of every employer to have its Employees properly trained and certified before allowing them to operate a Aerial Work Platform.
In Canada and the USA Every year there are many senseless accidents due to improper training, operators taking shortcuts or just not following safe work practices (OSHA Safety Board). Effective AWP Training is essential for minimizing accidents, injuries and deaths. If we all do our part, we can make every workplace a safer place for all.

The Scissorlift is part of the aerial work platform family of machines. These machines are highly used, but not limited to construction sites. The uses for these machines could be for running electrical wiring, telephone and computer lines, they are used for maintenance duties and sometimes for doing Inventory.

Forklift License Ontario

Basically these machines can access high areas safely and allow the operator to work comfortably. The scissorlift comes in a variety of makes, models and designs. The aerial work platforms family consists of a smaller version of scissorlift which is called the Man Up, as well as Boom Lifts, Trailer Mounted Booms and Self Propelled Booms. Some of the most commonly used brands are Skyjack, Genie, Skytrack and Snorkel.

Although most machines are electrically powered, diesel and propane powered machine are also available. The basics are standard on all trucks although the controls placement and overall "feel" of the machines might seem different, if you learn how to operate one, with a little bit of practise you will be able to adapt to the others.

Aerial work platforms are not at all difficult to operate; they all do basically the same thing. This would be to, lift the operator to a specific point and then back down. Unlike other lift machines (forklifts) the traveling speed on these machines is very slow, in comparison. This is also a part of the design built into the machine for safety purposes.

What makes these machines dangerous is the fact that the operator will be working at heights, according to ministry regulations this would imply that the operator should also have Fall Arrest Training before operating any one of these machines. By taking our scissorlift training course you will qualify to operate anyone of these machines, all you would need is just to familiarize yourself with the controls on the specific machine, be sure you do your pre-operational safety check, ensure you wear your safety harness, follow all the safety rules and only use the lift for what is was designed for.
